COMPOSITE ARMY BRIDGE
In 2000, the U.S. Army successfully demonstrated the viability of using lightweight composite materials for military bridge applications with the DARPA/Army Composite Amry Bridge Program. The figures below show this prototype bridge in action at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Weighing less than 13,000 lbs, the CAB design survived static test loading of more than three times the design proof load for its Military Load Class (MLC) rating of 100. In 2003, the CAB successfully completed durability testing involving over 20,000 actual and/or laboratory load cycles.
